Monday, July 8, 2019

Monday, JULY 8th

10:00 AM – Storytime – Terrific 2’s and 3’s! For children ages 2 and up, with a caregiver. Come in and hear a story, sing a song and have some fun!

12:15 PM – Mah Jong – Get together for the ever challenging game of Mah Jong! Card required.

1:00 – 3:00 PM –Knitters’ Group – Pick up that unfinished project and join in the fun!

4:00 PM – Constellation Exploration –Discover the stories behind the constellations in our sky! Create your own constellation with building and craft activities. For children ages 6 years and older. No registration required.

7:00 PM – Galactic Origami Sculptures - Make space-themed origami projects! Please note that these classes require a basic proficiency with paper folding. For children and teens ages 9 and up. Must be able to follow directions and listen to the instructor. REGISTRATION REQUIRED.

7:00 PM – Socrates’ Café – Join in the conversation, be it political, religious or whatever comes to mind. Share your thoughts, experiences and viewpoints while meeting new people.

Tuesday, JULY 9th

10:00 AM – Storytime – Playful Preschool – For children ages 3 and older, with a caregiver. Stories, songs and rhymes add up to a fun morning!

3:00 PM- 4:00 PM – Tail Waggin’ Tutors - Children ages 5 and up can read aloud to a certified therapy dog to help build reading confidence and practice. Contact the library to sign up for a 10-minute time slot.

3:00 PM – Teen Time – AUTHOR VISIT – Meet YA author Christine Kendall and hear how she creates her characters and stories! Free book giveaway while supplies last. For teens in grades 6-12. No registration required.

7:00 PM – Family Event – The Amazing Mr. Q - Join us for the ever- popular Amazing Mr. Q.'s special blend of magic, puppets, storytelling, and comedy. No registration required. For children of all ages and their families.

Wednesday, JULY 10th

10:00 AM – Dance, Rattle & Roll - Join us for the FIRST of SIX sessions! We’ll have stories, songs, and fun with a special emphasis on music and movement. Parachute play included! REGISTRATION REQUIRED. Sign up for each session individually; you may sign up for more than one session. For children up to age 5 with a caregiver.

11:00 – 1:00 PM – Pinochle – Beginner to advanced, join in the fun!

12:15 PM – Mah Jong – Get together for the ever challenging game of Mah Jong!

4:00 PM – 5:00 PM – Afternoon Book Club – Join in the discussion as we share thoughts on the first Ann Cleeves book, “The Crow Trap”. No registration required.

6:30 PM – Knit Night – Grab your needles and come in and finish that project! Knit and chat and make new friends!

7:00 PM – Local History talk – Join us and hear about drag racer “Jungle Jim” Liberman as his brother, Roddy Davis shares various memorabilia, photos, trophies and more! No registration required.

Thursday, JULY 11th

10:00 AM – Storytime- Wonderful 1’s - Join us for stories, songs, rhymes, and fun and learn about early literacy. Suggested for children from birth to 2 years old. No registration required.

3:00- 4:30 PM – Teen Program - Build Your Own Space Junk- Build space-themed equipment (rockets, rovers, space stations, etc.) with paper, cardboard, and your creativity! No registration required. For teens entering grades 6 to 12.

3:00 PM – 4:00 PM – Exploring with Ed talk – This month, Ed will explore various charts and graphs and how they are used to communicate information and how they can be misunderstood or manipulated. No registration required.

7:00 PM – A Universe of Mysteries – Join us for an evening with 5 authors from the New York Chapter of Mystery Writers of America. Hear how they create a universe with their own characters, settings, and plots! No registration required.

Friday, July 12th  

10:00 – 4:00 PM – Duplo Play Day – Come in and let your little ones build a creation from our Duplo collection! For ages 2 years to 6 years

11:00 AM – 1:00 PM – Pinochle – Different day, same fun!! Join us and learn to work your card skills!

1:30 – 3:30 PM – Bridge – Come in, meet new friends and challenge your brain!

2:00 PM – Movie Matinee – Ryan Gosling stars in this riveting story behind the first manned mission to the moon.  Based on Neil Armstrong and the decade leading to the Apollo 11 flight. Rated PG-13

Saturday, July 13th –SUMMER HOURS - 10 AM – 2 PM

10:15 – 12:00 Noon – Photography Class – Week 4 –This week’s topics will include composition, shutter speed, aperture, ISO, and lighting. For adults, but teens ages 13 and up may participate with accompanying parent/guardian. Bring your own camera to class (smartphones acceptable)   Led by Andrew Shu, professional photographer. Registration is required.

Sunday, July 14th - LIBRARY IS CLOSED.

Upcoming events:  Mark your calendars for Wed, July 17th @ 7 pm!! Author Eric Bell, writer of the children’s books, “Alan Cole is Not a Coward”; “Alan Cole Doesn’t Dance”, will conduct a writing workshop for adults who want to write children’s books.
