Non-life-sustaining Activities Ordered to Close; Twp. Operations Reduced

On the order of Governor Wolf, all public and private entities are not considered “life-sustaining” have been ordered to close. The Governor’s Office has provided a list of what businesses are considered “life-sustaining” and allowed to stay open as well as those businesses that are ordered to close HERE:

Mass transit, pharmacies, grocery stores and hospitals will remain open.

Enforcement of this order will begin Saturday, March 21, 2020.

Based on guidance from the state and county, all full-time Township employees with the exception of Public Works and the uniformed members of the Springfield Twp. Police Department will be working remotely starting Monday, March 23, 2020. All calls made to the Township will be automatically directed to voicemail boxes that staff will have remote access to and will be checking and responding throughout the workday. Permitting and inspections will not be performed until the Governor’s order is rescinded.

Trash, recycling, and leaf waste collection will still occur on your normal collection day and the uniformed Springfield Police Department will continue to report for duty to ensure the safety of our residents. The Township has enacted additional internal measures to protect the health and safety of the public as well as all of our Township employees.

  • For emergency police and fire matters, please call 911.
  • For non-emergency police matters call 215-836-1601.
  • For all other township operating departments, please dial 215-836-7600. A new automated menu will present you with a series of options to select a department and leave a voicemail. Again, voicemails will continue to be checked throughout the day.
