Know What to Throw: Township Recycling Reminder
Recycling is one of the simplest ways we can all make a big impact—saving energy, reducing waste, and keeping reusable materials out of landfills. Springfield Township would like to remind residents of the rules for curbside recycling to help keep our community clean and sustainable. Please take a moment to review what can and cannot be placed in your recycling container.
What’s Accepted:
- Glass: All colors. (Please do not include ceramics, light bulbs, plate glass, mirrors, windshields, headlights, or glass blocks.)
- Cans: Aluminum beverage cans and bi-metal cans.
- Plastics: Containers labeled #1 through #7, such as water bottles, milk jugs, detergent bottles, and yogurt/food containers.
- Paper & Cardboard: Newspapers, magazines, junk mail, office paper, computer paper, telephone books, corrugated cardboard, and paperboard containers (such as cereal and cracker boxes, as well as beer and soda cartons without waxy coatings).
- Please be sure to remove any contaminants such as food waste, trash, Styrofoam, plastic wrap, or other packing materials.
- Pizza boxes cannot be put out for recycling. Please put all pizza boxes out for regular trash collection!
Recyclable materials may be combined in a single can or container, not exceeding 32 gallons in size or 50 pounds in weight. Please note: Plastic bags are not permitted for recycling collection.
Need a New Recycling Bin?
New and replacement recycling containers are available for purchase at the Township Building. By following these simple guidelines, residents can ensure that recyclables are properly processed and continue to benefit our community and environment.
