Due to forecasted weather conditions, Springfield Township has declared a SNOW EMERGENCY starting at 7PM on January 24, 2026 in effect until further notice.
Residents are required to move their vehicles off of the street, or in accordance to the guidelines below if off-street parking is unavailable. Residents should also avoid traveling Sunday and Monday due to dangerous winter road conditions unless absolutely necessary. If travel is unavoidable, please remember to shovel out a space to the right of your driveway as doing so allows the snow that builds up on the front of our plows to fall off in that space and not in your driveway!
Library Closed on Sun, Jan. 25 and Mon, Jan. 26.
Due to the forecasted winter weather and anticipated snow totals, the Free Library of Springfield Township will be CLOSED on Sunday, January 25 and Monday, January 26. Updates on Monday Administration Building closures will be posted based on storm conditions. Updates will be made as they become available.
Parking Restrictions
During a winter weather advisory or snow emergency, all vehicles must be removed from streets and roadways whenever possible. Residents with access to garages, driveways, or other off-street parking are required to use them.
Residents without off-street parking may park on the street only on the EVEN-numbered side of the street, as 2026 is an even-numbered year. Where permanent parking restrictions exist, those restrictions will remain in effect. Residents are encouraged to assist neighbors who lack off-street parking by offering driveway space when possible to help crews clear streets more effectively.
Residents should also remove any curb-line or on-street basketball nets, as they obstruct snow removal and should never be placed in the roadway.
Monday Refuse/Recycle Collection Postponed
Trash and recycle collection for Monday, January 26th will be cancelled and postponed to the following business day. Both Monday and Tuesday trash collection routes will have trash collection on Tuesday, January 27th. Please refrain from placing trash and recycle cans in the street or at the curb until Monday evening, after the snowfall has ended. As a reminder, leaf and yard waste collection is suspended during January and February. If leaf bags are currently at the curb, please pull them back during storms to prevent freezing.

Code Blue In Effect
A Code Blue extreme cold weather has been declared for our area. The Montgomery County Office of Public Health and County Commissioners are responsible for calling Code Blues based on weather forecasts.
- If you or someone you know needs help with temporary shelter from the cold weather or a longer-term housing issue, call the Your Way Home Call Center at 610-278-3522.

- If you see someone experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 9-1-1.
- For 24/7 information about crisis resources for housing, utilities, food resources, and more, call 2-1-1.
- Check on elderly friends and neighbors frequently to ensure that their homes are adequately heated.
- To the extent there is a widespread and extended local power outage, the Township will consider opening a temporary warming station for residents. Such information will be posted to the Township website.
Power Outages
Residents that experience a power outage should call PECO at 1-800-841-4141. Do not assume that a neighbor has already reported an outage in your area. PECO prioritizes residential restoration efforts based upon the number of outages in a neighborhood. Please refrain from calling the Township to ask for the status of power restoration as we do not have access to that information. Residents can download the PECO power outage app for a more up-to-date status of power outages.
